I understand what it’s like to be the parent of a struggling learner.
I wanted more than anything to help my child succeed, yet the traditional educational programs I used as a homeschool mom often left him--and me--feeling discouraged. What he and I discovered was that, by using new and varied learning strategies to better fit his needs, we were able to give him the tools and the confidence he needed to succeed.
It was this experience as a homeschool mom that motivated me to get an education as a Certified Special Education Teacher and Dyslexia Practitioner. I worked with Equipping Minds to increase students’ cognitive abilities, and I founded a large homeschool collaborative focused on hands-on learning. Today I have not only twenty years of homeschool experience, but training and experience helping a wide variety of struggling learners to succeed. Just as I did for my own son, I now tailor learning strategies and curriculums that best support students by capitalizing on their strengths and keeping discouragement out of the learning process.
After looking at samples of your student’s work and discussing their strengths and weaknesses, I will give you feedback on how to best capitalize on their strengths and build up their weaker areas, including a written list of suggested programs and strategies that will best build on their successes.
